In October of this year, a conference named «Friendship Days» is scheduled to take place in the capital of Austria, including the festival «Golden Violins of Odessa» on October 18.

This was discussed during a meeting between the Mayor of Odessa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, and Mr. Thomas Resh, the European and International Cooperation Referent from the Vienna municipal office.

«It is essential for us to introduce the world to Ukrainian culture. Nearly all participants of the festival are graduates of the legendary Odessa School named after Stolyarsky. We are delighted that the collaboration between Odessa and Vienna will result in such a wonderful cultural event,» said the Mayor of Odessa.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed other aspects of their joint efforts, particularly the extensive experience of the Vienna authorities in cooperating with UNESCO, as the historical center of the city has been on the World Heritage List since 2001.

«We are very pleased that our city has been chosen to host such a conference and festival. We are ready to provide all necessary assistance for the organization,» noted Mr. Res.

The Vienna side also proposed holding a joint roundtable to discuss matters related to the protection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage and the management of significant UNESCO sites, using Vienna as an example.
