Expanding Horizons in Stroke Treatment: Insights from Odesa Doctors

Specialists from Odesa City Clinical Hospital No. 10 took part in the 13th Winter Stroke School held in Bern, Switzerland. This event gathered leading experts from 20 countries to discuss innovative approaches to treatment and share practical experiences.

The school's program included the latest international treatment guidelines for stroke in 2026, real clinical case analyses, and practical skill training in the angiography room and on specialized mannequins.

The training was hosted at the University Clinic of Bern, where sessions on managing patients with acute ischemic stroke and workshops on modern endovascular techniques were conducted for physicians.

The training format was interdisciplinary, featuring collaborations between neurologists and neuro-radiologists, which aligns with the standards of effective stroke centers globally.

“This experience is incredibly valuable for us – we had the opportunity to observe how stroke care is organized in Switzerland, engage with colleagues from various countries, and discuss complex clinical cases. It was gratifying that international experts were impressed by our experience and the rapid development of stroke care in Ukraine,” noted Alexander Skrypka, head of the angiographic block and interventional neuro-radiology at Hospital No. 10.

The modern knowledge and skills acquired during the international training will be implemented by Odesa doctors to enhance the quality of medical care for patients.
