Water Supply Alternatives in Odesa
Overview of the water supply situation in Odesa and alternative water sources during the power outage.
Ukrzaliznytsia has announced new changes to its train operation plans aimed at optimizing the freight flow on the Pomichna-Podilsk and Pomichna-Chornomorska routes.
These changes, as stated in the company's official response, are intended to ensure the effective operation of traction substations and the rational use of locomotive resources to prevent overloading locomotive crews.
It is known that there are restrictions on train passage and electricity supply on these routes, which were also considered in the decision-making process.
Furthermore, the company drew attention to the freight flow heading to Ukraine's largest port — the MTP "Pivdenny".
Ukrzaliznytsia also reminded about the necessity of annual tariff indexing for freight transportation, which has often been neglected in previous years, leading to the tariff lagging behind the price increases of essential resources.
Specifically, since the last tariff review, electricity prices have risen by 166%, diesel by 110%, and spare parts for diesel locomotives by 217%.
As a result, this has affected Ukrzaliznytsia's ability to repair infrastructure and pay salaries to employees.
At the same time, private companies can index their tariffs by reducing logistics costs, allowing them to fulfill social obligations.
It should be noted that recently, PJSC "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih" expressed concern about tariff changes that increased the transportation distance of their products by 257 km.
The company believes that these changes are unfounded and indicate possible economic pressure.
