Ukrposhta's Revamped Mobile App Set for Launch

The state postal operator "Ukrposhta" is preparing to launch a revamped mobile application, expected to be available by the end of June this year.

CEO Ihor Smiliansky, in an interview with Forbes Ukraine, stated that the new application is one of the company's top priorities for 2025.

"We plan to launch the app by the end of the first half of the year. It will not only track parcels; we will incorporate features for customs interaction, estimated delivery dates, document verification, and access to shipment and payment history", — noted Smiliansky.

The launch of the new "Ukrposhta" application was initially scheduled for 2024 but was postponed for various reasons. The current app has low ratings on the App Store and Google Play Market, with one of its major issues being the lack of notifications about parcel status. The new app is expected to allow customers to redirect parcels to different branches, which currently can only be done via phone or in person at post offices.

Smiliansky also mentioned that in 2024, around 1 billion UAH was invested in automation. "This amount includes five-year guarantees. Moreover, all funding comes from our own resources", — said the postal operator's CEO.

According to him, over 90% of parcels arrive on time. "I measure the effect of automation through Facebook and TikTok. Previously, my posts attracted dozens or even hundreds of comments about poor delivery from "Ukrposhta". In the last two months — almost none. This is the most honest indicator for me, as it cannot be faked. We have launched full automation and are now refining the IT system so that customers can see the estimated delivery date upon sending", — summarized Ihor Smiliansky.

Recall that in February 2025, "Ukrposhta" fully automated parcel sorting. In January 2025, the government transferred shares of the First Investment Bank, previously owned by Russian oligarchs, to the Ministry of Community Development, with subsequent transfer to "Ukrposhta". This will enable the postal operator to establish its own banking institution. Earlier, Ihor Smiliansky stated that after creating its own bank, "Ukrposhta's" capitalization would grow, allowing for the implementation of an Amazon-style model in the Ukrainian context. It is also noteworthy that last year, "Ukrposhta" reported a revenue of UAH 12.98 billion, an 8% increase from nearly UAH 12 billion in 2023. However, considering the annual inflation rate of 14.6%, the real growth turned into a decline, resulting in a loss of UAH 387 million by the end of 2024.
