Creating an Accessible Space in Odesa: New Developments

In Odesa, the implementation of an accessible route is currently underway.

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy has unveiled a new design for communications as part of the National Strategy to create an accessible environment by 2030.

This design system includes:

  • a unique logo;
  • standardized rules for font and color usage;
  • a visual system,
  • based on six dimensions of accessibility:
  • physical,
  • informational,
  • educational,
  • digital,
  • civic,
  • economic.

Each dimension is represented as a separate point in the logo, together forming a circle — a symbol of unity, inclusion, and equal space for everyone, regardless of their characteristics.

This logo is currently being used for marking the accessible route in Odesa.

This initiative is a significant part of a larger project initiated by Odesa's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, under the pilot project “Movement Without Barriers.” The marking is carried out by expert groups from the Council for Accessibility, including people with disabilities, urban planners, and accessibility specialists.
