Closure of the Inclusive Recreation Season in Odesa

On September 27, in Odesa, at the inclusive beach on the 11th station of the Great Fountain, the official closure of the summer season took place.

Since its reopening on July 1 after extensive renovations, the beach has welcomed over 25,000 visitors with disabilities and their companions. This included 12 trips organized for 300 individuals with limited mobility from Mykolaiv. Mykolaiv City Council member Yuriy Stepanets noted that Odesa has been providing drinking water to Mykolaiv since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, and now gives people with disabilities freedom of movement and health opportunities in the sea.

Odesa's Mayor Henadiy Trukhanov emphasized the city's ambitious plans for developing inclusive recreation areas, promising to create a specialized base for veteran rowers.

«Currently, we are implementing three accessible routes in Odesa in collaboration with the Barrier-Free Council and my advisor on accessibility, Oleksiy Morozov: “North — South” in partnership with the Ministry of Development, a tourist route through the city center, and a wellness route encompassing the sea, sun, adaptive sports, and shared leisure», — stated Henadiy Trukhanov.

Throughout the day, heartfelt thanks were expressed to those who made the creation and maintenance of this special area possible. Deputy Mayor and veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Kotsiuba admitted that he would miss the Saturday meetings at the beach with his comrades and eagerly awaits the next season.

In the coming days, conservation measures will be taken to preserve the equipment and prepare for the new recreation season.
