Empowering Veterans in Odesa
Odesa is making strides in enhancing the quality of life for veterans through dedicated rehabilitation initiatives.
Medical institutions in Odesa are actively introducing new treatment methods for patients suffering from cancer.
City hospitals have signed agreements with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU), allowing them to offer chemotherapy and patient support at no cost under the national medical guarantee program.
At City Clinical Hospital No. 10, chemotherapy is provided through the hospital's oncology service. Daily, 20-25 patients receive treatment in the outpatient therapy room.
This service is available to both Odesa residents and those from other regions of Ukraine with electronic referrals from doctors for patients with clinically and morphologically confirmed malignant tumors.
The oncology service at MCL No. 10 includes not only a day hospital with a chemotherapy room but also consultations with oncologists, cancer screenings, and departments for general and minimally invasive surgery, as well as interventional endoscopy.
This integrated approach allows patients to receive comprehensive medical assistance at all stages of diagnosis and therapy.
City Clinical Hospital No. 1 also provides free chemotherapy under an agreement with the NHSU in the palliative care unit. Since the beginning of the year, around 120 patients have received treatment here.
From 2025, the oncology services will expand within the state medical guarantees program at City Clinical Hospital No. 11, which primarily focuses on treating head and neck tumors.
The Department of Health is actively implementing comprehensive programs for the prevention and early detection of cancer. In the first half of this year, around 10,000 Odesa residents underwent cancer screening.
