Surge in Electricity Imports in Ukraine

From July 7 to 11, electricity imports to Ukraine doubled to 44,000 MWh, while exports decreased to 32,200 MWh.

This information is reported in the ExPro monitoring report.

The highest volumes of imports are recorded during the evening peak hours.

“Currently, imports during peak hours can exceed 1 GW, which significantly contributes to stability. In the current context, imports may again become a crucial component for the energy system during peak consumption periods,” analysts report.

They add that “the need for long-term forecasted imports highlights the importance of developing auctions for access to interstate crossings.”
