Odesa Half Marathon: A Race for Charity

The Odesa «INDEPENDENCE HALF MARATHON» brought together more than 600 participants from various regions of Ukraine and the world.

The race route highlighted iconic locations in Odesa — Primorsky Boulevard, Deribasivska, Sabaniev Bridge, Gogol Street, Rishelievska, Lanzheronivska, and more.

Odesa's mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, welcomed the participants on the Day of Physical Culture and Sports, thanking the organizers and the Armed Forces of Ukraine for enabling such important competitions.

He emphasized the personal significance of sports in his life, declaring a healthy lifestyle as a fundamental principle:

«Those who came here are already winners!»

The first participants in this large-scale athletic event were veterans and individuals with mobility impairments.

Advisor to the Odesa mayor, Oleksiy Morozov, noted that the city continues to develop adaptive sports and rehabilitation initiatives.

The «INDEPENDENCE HALF MARATHON» featured the following distances:

  • Children's distances — from 60 m to 1 km,
  • Adult distances — 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km.

Today, the marathon united not only athletes but also a noble cause — fundraising for the prosthetics of patients at the Odesa Superhumans Center.
