Honoring Journalist Victoria Roschina

On August 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the Order of Freedom to journalist Victoria Roschina, who was killed in Russian captivity in October 2024.

Zelensky announced this on Instagram.

"In October 2024, we faced a profound loss: Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roschina died in Russian captivity. She had already been included in the exchange lists. Russia promised to release her, but failed to keep its word.

Victoria was one of those who spoke the truth about the war. She worked at the frontlines, in temporarily occupied territories, risking her life.

In February of this year, her body was returned to Ukraine showing numerous signs of torture. Since then, all necessary examinations have been ongoing. Today we honor Victoria Roschina posthumously. She has been awarded the Order of Freedom for her unwavering belief that freedom will triumph. Eternal memory to Victoria Roschina" - noted Zelensky.
