Tribute to Colonel Oleksandr Yaichko

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Colonel Oleksandr Yaichko, who served in the Southern Regional Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The farewell ceremony took place in Odesa, near the Officers' House.

This was confirmed by the press service of the SBGS.

Family, friends, and colleagues gathered to pay their respects. The memorial service was conducted by chaplains of the border agency. His burial took place in the village of Ovidiopol at the local cemetery with full military honors.

Oleksandr Mykolaiovych's life was filled with significant events. He chose the path of a border officer, organizing border security across various regions of the country. In 2014, while being a lecturer at a border guard institution, he volunteered to go to the eastern border to protect Ukraine from invasion. He performed tasks in the Mariupol direction and was captured by the enemy. When Russia launched a full-scale invasion, the colonel immediately expressed his desire to return to the eastern front, feeling that he was needed there. Since January 2024, he has been serving in the Southern Regional Administration.

“Oleksandr dedicated his life to serving his homeland, faithfully fulfilling his duty to protect it,” the message states.
