In Odesa, law enforcement authorities discovered two men abusing their influence. They promised to help avoid military conscription for a certain fee. They were apprehended while receiving part of the bribe.
The offenders, aged 28 and 45, were caught by police and SBU officers. They targeted a conscript and, boasting about their connections, assured him they could influence officials. They demanded 11,000 dollars for a forged deferment certificate.
The police arrested them after they received 5,000 dollars from the client along with personal documents needed for processing the deferment. The criminals claimed the entire process would take about three weeks.
Authorities seized documents and money confirming the illegal activities. Investigators charged them under part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty for this crime is eight years of imprisonment with asset confiscation. The issue of preventive measures is currently being resolved.
The Kyiv District Prosecutor's Office is overseeing the case. Investigative actions are ongoing.
