Illegal Soybean Export: Investigation Insights

According to the investigation, the individuals involved attempted to export products without proper documentation confirming their origin, using fictitious companies and individual entrepreneurs.

An agrarian trader from the Odesa region refunded over 14.5 million hryvnias in unpaid taxes linked to an illegal soybean export attempt. This was reported by the press service of the Bureau of Economic Security. The investigation revealed that the suspects used forged documents to create the appearance of legitimate transactions and export 7,500 tons of soybeans to Turkey and Romania. Detectives established that the suspects tried to export products with no documented proof of origin through networks involving fictitious companies. As a result, the enterprise failed to pay 14.5 million hryvnias in taxes, which is a considerable amount. During searches at the Odesa port and in the Chernivtsi region grain terminals, more than 6,000 tons of soybeans were seized, already loaded onto a vessel, along with 1,600 tons of soy in 32 railway cars. The total value of the seized goods exceeds 103 million hryvnias. The enterprise voluntarily repaid its tax debts, and the funds have already been transferred to the state budget. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with efforts to identify all individuals involved in the criminal activities.

Previously, it was reported that an Odesa court ordered a foreign national who counterfeited branded clothing to pay more than half a million hryvnias in fines and compensation.
