Health Initiative in Odesa: A Preventive Action for Residents

Last week, a significant health initiative took place in Odesa in celebration of World Health Day.

This event was organized with the support of the Odesa City Council and the local Health Center.

On this day, all willing participants could receive free comprehensive health screenings at primary healthcare centers and hospitals. Family doctors and therapists provided consultations, along with measurements of blood pressure, blood glucose levels, pulse, and ECG examinations. Patients were issued electronic referrals for laboratory tests and specialist consultations as needed.

According to the results of this initiative, 2536 residents of Odesa underwent health screenings. Additionally, with the assistance of the Kyiv District Administration, doctors from the primary healthcare center examined 55 individuals—visitors and staff of the administrative building.
During the health screenings, 331 cases of elevated blood pressure and 200 cases of high blood glucose levels were detected. Following ECG results, 258 patients were referred to cardiologists for further consultation.

For patients requiring additional examinations, 1112 electronic referrals for laboratory tests and 640 referrals for specialist consultations were created by healthcare professionals. All patients received medical advice.

Health days help to timely identify health problems, raise awareness among residents about disease prevention, and remind them of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
