Ceremonial event in Odesa in honor of medical workers

On June 27, 2025, a ceremonial cultural and spiritual charity event titled «Under the Protection of Saint Panteleimon» took place in Odessa, recognizing medical professionals from the region with the Saint Panteleimon Order awards.

The event, led by the chairman of the honorable council for the Saint Panteleimon Order, Vasyl Knyazevych, included representatives from major Christian communities, health institutions of the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and private healthcare facilities, as well as nominees and laureates.

The «Saint Panteleimon Order» was established in 2009 and is awarded for outstanding achievements in medicine, courage, and resilience in the fight for the health of Ukrainians during the war. The medical community refers to this award as the «Medical Oscar».

The winners in various categories for 2025 were:

  • Category «Lifeline Support»: Babенко Vsevolod Vasylovych, Colonel of the Medical Service.
  • Category «Hero of the Medical Front»: Solovey Tetiana Panteleivna, operating nurse.
  • Category «Best Doctor»: Chaykovska Svitlana Mykhailivna, oncologist.
  • Category «Heart of Medicine»: Honchar Svitlana Volodymyrivna, senior nurse.
  • Category «Innovator of the Year»: Umanyets Mykola Mykolayovych, Doctor of Medical Sciences.
  • Category «Fortress of Health»: Institute of Eye Diseases.
  • Category «Exemplar of Community Service»: Father Theodor.

The final results will be announced at the national level with the involvement of an international expert commission.

Medical professionals were also awarded Honorary Certificates for their high professionalism during the war.

  • Belyaeva Liudmyla Vitaliivna, therapist.
  • Kyrilova Olena Vitaliivna, chief nurse.
  • Fedorishin Vitalii Vasylovych, anesthetist nurse.
  • Halich Svitlana Rodionivna, obstetrician-gynecologist.
  • Merlich Serhii Vasylovych, oncologist.
  • Medical teams from hospitals No. 10 and No. 11.
