Enhancing Mental Health Awareness in Odesa Schools

During August 2025, educational institutions in the municipal ownership of the Odesa community implemented various initiatives aimed at increasing awareness of mental health issues among participants in the educational process, fostering self-regulation skills, and promoting psychological well-being.

For students, the following activities were organized:

  • interactive sessions based on the materials of the «Visual Album» «My Mood», «Help a Friend», «Our Goals for the Future», «How to Maintain Mental Health», etc.;
  • art therapy and relaxation exercises such as «Body Colors», «Alphabet of Strength», «Quiet Room»;
  • games aimed at creating psychological comfort like «Gift Me a Smile», «Compliments», «My Mood», «Gift for a Friend»;
  • a quest titled «We Are from the Future» (to develop emotional intelligence and teamwork);
  • class hours on «Mental Health as a Vital Component of Life», «Daily Support for Students' Mental Health»;
  • a sports festival called «United Through Sports» within the framework of «Sensory Tech. How Are You?».

Teachers participated in training sessions, seminars, and workshops on «Soul Ecology. Preventing Emotional Burnout», «Emotional Health of Teachers: How Not to Burn Out», «How Can Teachers Care for Their Mental Health?», «Work-Life Balance», «Safe School. Bullying Masks».

Additionally, practical exercises on «How to Calm Anxiety», master classes on «Emotional Literacy: How Teachers Can Maintain Balance», and quizzes with elements of psychological relaxation were held.

As part of the informational and educational activities, video presentations and screenings of videos on «Stress and Anxiety: How to Protect Mental Health», as well as animated clips with recommendations for psychological support, were organized.

In accessible locations for visitors, posters with QR codes from the nationwide mental health program «How Are You?» were placed, alongside printed informational materials (leaflets).

Students and teachers have the opportunity to consult with the school psychologist for support and advice on mental health issues.
