Temporary Water Supply Interruption in Odesa
Due to emergency repair works, the water supply in part of the Peresyp district of Odesa will be temporarily halted.
A significant cultural event took place in Odesa — during a Christmas concert, a refreshed version of the legendary «Shchedryk» was presented, performed by the city's choir groups. The audience also had the chance to see the music video for this piece, created under wartime conditions.
«Shchedryk» is a globally recognized work by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych, which has become one of Ukraine's most famous musical symbols. This time, the composition was performed in a new interpretation — as a collaborative project of Odesa's choir groups and musicians.
The idea for the project emerged from Odesa's music schools among the city’s choir groups. The initiative involved the Odesa College of Arts named after K.F. Dankevych and other artists, who came together to reinterpret this well-known piece, showcasing modern cultural Odesa.
The music video was filmed under challenging circumstances — during short breaks between air raid alerts, symbolizing the resilience of the city and its cultural community.
Olha Lozova, Deputy Head of the Odesa City Military Administration, emphasized the significance of the project for the city:
«Such initiatives are not just art. They reflect our identity, showcasing how Odesa can resonate and create even in the toughest times. «Shchedryk» performed by Odesans is the voice of our city that the world hears».
Project coordinator Olena Pavlova noted that the main goal was to preserve sincerity and emotion:
«We wanted Odesa to sound new and contemporary. In every note — Odesa, in every voice — our unity and belief in culture as a unifying force».
This project exemplifies how culture continues to thrive, evolve, and unite communities even in wartime, shaping a modern image of Odesa on the cultural map of Ukraine and the world.
