Celebrating Sign Language in Odesa

Every year, the last Sunday of September is recognized worldwide as the day for individuals with hearing disabilities, and September 23 is dedicated to sign languages.

In Odessa, various events are being held to commemorate this occasion, continuing until September 30.

Today, September 24, a ceremonial event took place at the Odesa Cultural Center of the Ukrainian Society of the Deaf, aimed at drawing public attention to the rights and freedoms of individuals with hearing impairments.

Officials from the Department of Labor and Social Policy of the Odesa City Council attended the ceremony, greeting those present and presenting Honorary Certificates to the most active members of the society.

The concert program featured performances by students from Odesa Special School No. 91, showcasing musical and dance acts, comedic sketches, and stand-up performances.

The event was organized and conducted by the Odesa Regional Organization of the 'Ukrainian Society of the Deaf'.
