The 2025 Wimbledon tournament started with surprising outcomes. A total of eight players from the top ten seeds were eliminated in the first round, marking a record in the history of Grand Slam events.

This was reported by the statistical company Opta Ace.

Among the shocks was Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska (42), who defeated world number two Coco Gauff in her opening match. The American could not hold back her tears after the loss.

On the men's side, the following players have already exited: Alexander Zverev (3), Holger Rune (8), Lorenzo Musetti (7), and Daniil Medvedev (9). For the women, Jessica Pegula (3), Zheng Qinwen (8), and Paula Badosa (9) have also been eliminated.

It is worth noting that the day before, Elina Svitolina easily won against Hungarian player Anna Bondar (75) in her opening match at Wimbledon. Yulia Starodubtseva also triumphed over British player Francesca Jones (122).

Unfortunately, Marta Kostyuk was unable to advance past the first round, losing to Slovenian Veronika Krajicek (171).
