Representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine have visited the Greco-Roman wrestling club «GREK» in Odesa, which is participating in a new experimental project.
Earlier this year, the Odesa regional administration signed an important agreement with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to support local sports clubs, aimed at improving the region's sports infrastructure.
The purpose of this experimental project is to create an effective model for transitioning to a club-based system for organizing sports activities, highlighting the significance of sports clubs as non-profit organizations.
The meeting included:
Currently, the club employs four coaches and has over 160 athletes enrolled. Training sessions are held in Odesa, Chornomorsk, Podilsk, and the village of Hradevtsi.
During the visit, the participants learned about the club's activities, engaged with coaches and athletes, and had the opportunity to observe the training process.
This experiment is being funded by the regional budget.
«We are confidently moving forward in the development of sports in the Odesa region. This project opens new horizons for youth, promotes physical development, and helps build a healthy and active nation. The development of sports infrastructure and support for coaches and athletes is an investment in the future of our region and the well-being of every child and family», said Anton Shalyhailo.
The Odesa region continues to support initiatives aimed at developing the region's sports potential, creating new opportunities for youth, and strengthening the club system in Ukrainian sports.
