Repatriation Update: 1200 Bodies Returned to Ukraine

A recent phase of repatriation in Ukraine has successfully resulted in the return of 1200 deceased individuals.

According to the Russian side, these bodies belong to Ukrainian citizens, including military personnel. The repatriation process was carried out in accordance with agreements made in Istanbul.

The coordinated efforts of the Coordination Headquarters on Prisoner of War Treatment, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights have facilitated this process.

Law enforcement investigators, along with forensic institutions from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct all necessary examinations and identify the repatriated bodies.

We express our gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their assistance.

Special thanks go to the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who are responsible for transporting the repatriated individuals to designated specialized facilities and organizing the transfer of the deceased to law enforcement representatives.
