Today, another stage of the prisoner exchange took place, in line with the agreements reached in Istanbul. A group of seriously ill defenders has been freed from Russian captivity and returned home.

Among those returning are members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including representatives from the Naval Forces and other military units.

Each freed defender suffers from severe injuries and medical conditions caused by prolonged captivity. Many experience significant weight loss, dystrophy, ulcers, and other serious health issues.

Most of the released soldiers had been in captivity for over three years, with many captured during the defense of Mariupol.

The released individuals include members from the rank-and-file and sergeant corps who fought in eastern Ukraine.

Freed defenders will undergo medical examinations and receive necessary rehabilitation support.

The coordination headquarters continues its efforts to secure the return of all prisoners.
