Alexander Volodymyrovych Bleschunov is a remarkable figure, an engineer, and a celebrated mountaineer. A mountain pass in the Eastern Pamir and a peak at the junction of the Garmo and Vavilov glaciers bear his name. Besides mountaineering, a significant part of his life was devoted to collecting art pieces.
At the end of his life, he donated his collection to his hometown. On January 28, 1989, the Museum of Personal Collections was inaugurated in Odessa, and since 1992, it has been known as the Odesa Municipal Museum of Personal Collections named after O. V. Bleschunov.
This unique collection boasts over 10,000 items, including world-class rarities, and is part of the State Museum Fund of Ukraine. In recognition of Alexander Volodymyrovych Bleschunov's contributions to the city, his star was ceremonially unveiled on the Walk of Stars in Odessa on September 2, 2019.
