Night Attack by Occupants: New Data from the Air Forces
Details about the night attack by Russian occupiers on Ukraine, including the number of aerial attack assets used.
On August 27, the Central City Library named after Ivan Franko held the award ceremony for the winners of the IV municipal competition dedicated to the prominent Ukrainian writer.
This event was part of the celebrations for the birthday of I. Ya. Franko, who left a significant mark on Ukrainian culture.
In 2024, the competition, which saw participation from authors across Ukraine, marks its fourth edition.
The winners of the competition were:
in the category of “Journalism”:
- Vyacheslav Kushnir (Odesa, “On the Pages of Newspapers and Facebook”);
- Eduard Amchislavsky (New York, “Actors, Cinema, Odesa…”);
in the category of “Prose”:
- Volodymyr Shevchenko-Vasylenko (Kremenchuk, “The Boat of Grief Floats”);
- Iryna Feofanova (Irpin, “Stranger Own Native”);
in the category of “Poetry”:
- Oksana Lozova (Lviv, “Time Does Not Pass”), along with her son Vasyl Lozovyi, who is currently defending Ukraine, authored the collection “We-Exist!”;
- Yuriy Ostrovershenko (Vradievka, Mykolaiv region, poetry collection “Whip”);
in the category of “Promotion of Ivan Franko’s Work”:
- Denys Rudy (Odesa, second prize, script for the literary-musical concert “Withered Leaves”),
- Olesya Franko (Kalush, Frankivsk region, first prize, regional tour “Franko City”).
A special award from the library went to Vasyl Dobryansky, a member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, known for his historical and detective novels.
The director of the Centralized Library System for Adults, Natalia Klykova, received a commendation from the Odesa District Council.
At the end of the event, students and teachers from the Odesa Arts School No. 1 named after Hilels performed, along with award-winning writer Svitlana Lukina.
On Ivan Franko’s birthday, library staff and fans of the writer’s work laid flowers at his monument.

The literary competition was established in 2021 to mark the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence and the 165th anniversary of the great Ukrainian writer I. Franko's birth.
