A 47-year-old man with a criminal history has been charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He is currently in custody.

Last July, a resident of Odessa reported to the police about a sexual assault against her 15-year-old daughter by an unknown man.

Police determined that the suspect, inebriated, approached the girl on the street and offered to take her through a shortcut to the city center. He lured her to a secluded area and assaulted her in an abandoned building, which the girl later reported to her mother.

Within hours, detectives from the Odessa District Police Department No. 1 identified the suspect as a previously convicted 47-year-old Odessa resident.

Law enforcement located the man, and during an urgent search of his residence, they seized a prohibited psychotropic substance (4-MMC) that he had purchased for personal use.

The investigators detained the offender under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Following their request, the court placed him in custody.

«During the preliminary investigation, conducted under the guidance of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office of Odessa, the police collected sufficient evidence, including forensic conclusions, leading to charges under part 3 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for sexual assault against a minor without her consent, as well as under part 1 of Article 309 of the same code for illegal possession of psychotropic substances», - stated investigator Valeria Buliga.

The investigation has concluded, and the indictment has been sent to court. The offender faces up to seven years in prison.
