Reviving Collecting in Odessa

On December 23, 2024, the gallery «#ARTODESSA» in the Summer Theater of the City Garden hosted an important conference titled «Odessa Collections».

This event brought together collectors, cultural experts, and local historians from Odessa.

The primary aim of the conference was to revive the active engagement of the collectors' community in Odessa to tackle issues regarding the preservation of Ukraine's cultural and historical heritage.

Participants discussed topics related to the prospects of preserving private collections, opportunities for their exhibition, musealization, and cataloging. A significant aspect highlighted was the need for scientific research on collections.

Notable speakers at the event included: Ivan Liptuga, Felix Kochriht, Semen Kantor, Anna Golubovska, Taras Maksymiuk, Oleksandr Fridman, Serhiy Sedyh, Dmytro Khamula, Denys Mitskevych, Oleksandr Surylov, Yulia Hurynenko, and Kateryna Pimenova.

Following the conference, a publication titled «Universe Named Odessa» dedicated to collecting is being prepared.

The conference was organized by the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration of the Odessa City Council.
