Memorial Stone for Special Operations Forces in Odesa
A memorial stone for the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine was unveiled in Odesa's Victory Dendropark.
The extensive restoration of the chimney for the boiler house «North-2» has been successfully completed after being damaged by severe weather in November 2023.
The restoration was made possible with financial assistance from UNICEF. The chimney of the communal boiler house «Heating of the city of Odesa» is now operational and provides heating for 120,000 residents, as well as educational and medical facilities in the neighborhood.
«This winter, UNICEF's priority was to ensure warmth for families and children, and to maintain key services they rely on, including healthcare, electricity, water supply, sanitation, and the operation of educational institutions, especially in areas most affected by the war», said Munir Mamedzade, head of the UNICEF office in Ukraine.
On behalf of the Odesa community, Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov expressed sincere gratitude to UNICEF for their ongoing support and collaboration.
«This project is a vivid example of international cooperation and support that we feel in all respects, particularly in the recovery and development of our city's critical infrastructure. Together, we are prepared to face modern challenges and ensure comfortable living conditions for our citizens», - the mayor of Odesa noted.
The mayor also shared that the restoration of the boiler house building is ongoing, but it does not affect the heating supply for Odesa residents.
