Law Enforcement Collaboration During Wartime

Topics included the functioning of law enforcement agencies in wartime and the role of international partners.

The head of the EUAM in Odesa, Anders Johansen, along with his team, expressed admiration for local police and emphasized support in the fight against Russian aggression.

The police, led by Ivan Zhuk, head of the National Police of Odesa region, shared the challenges they face. They discussed crimes committed by the enemy, measures for protecting civilians, and combating transnational crime, including illicit drug and arms trafficking.

During the discussion, significant attention was given to the modernization of the police and the need for material resources to fulfill their duties given the scale of the work.

European partners reiterated their support for Odesa's police in these challenging conditions and their readiness to provide assistance to enhance its operations, particularly through experience sharing and equipment provision.

The police chief expressed gratitude to the Mission representatives for their ongoing support and collaboration.
