By the end of 2025, Ukraine will implement cutting-edge scanning systems for railway cars at its borders. These systems will enable customs officers to conduct non-intrusive checks, allowing them to inspect cargo without opening cars or containers. This was reported by the OVA press service. How it works: a fully automated system operates 24/7; scanners can detect even the smallest details hidden in the walls or floors of cars; passenger cars and locomotives are automatically excluded from inspection. Scanners are capable of identifying smuggling, drugs, tobacco products, and other prohibited substances before they enter circulation. Modern technologies not only enhance the effectiveness of customs control but also reduce corruption risks and expedite border processes. In the context of martial law and logistical restructuring, this is crucial for the country’s economic resilience. The first scanners will be installed at the “Mostyska-2” and “Yahodyn” checkpoints on the border with Poland, with plans to expand to other areas later.
