Barrier-Free Week in Ukraine

In Ukraine, the barrier-free week is underway. On May 20, a nationwide conference titled «Path to Resilience» was held in Kyiv.

The event brought together government officials, local self-governance representatives, and civil society activists.

Representing Odessa at the conference were advisor on barrier-free issues Alexey Morozov and secretary of the Barrier-Free Council, director of the internal policy department Alexander Zhiltsov, appointed by Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

During a panel discussion focused on creating accessible environments in communities, participants addressed practical cases, tools, and challenges faced by Ukrainian cities.

The discussion was moderated by Tatyana Lomakina, the President's advisor on barrier-free issues.

«Barrier-free is about people and for people. It’s gratifying that Odessa’s experience is garnering interest. We share what we've achieved and draw inspiration from new ideas,» Alexey Morozov noted.

«We have a clear understanding of how this works, as Odessa is already developing a system based on dialogue, cooperation, and tangible changes visible to the people,» added Alexander Zhiltsov.

Odessa's experience in inclusion is becoming an integral part of the national dialogue on sustainable community development, confirming the city's commitment to accessibility and engagement.
