Breaking Barriers: New Initiatives in Odesa

Today, June 5, an important online meeting took place in Odesa, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba and his assistant Natalia Kozlovska.

Attending the meeting were representatives of the Odesa City Council, including First Deputy Mayor Oleksandr Filatov and advisor on barrier-free space Oleksiy Morozov.

During the discussion, participants focused on the implementation of the «Barrier-Free Movement» project and the progress of the inclusive tram route «North-South».

Specifically, they emphasized technical aspects of the route, including the marking of certain sections and planning for future actions.

Currently, Odesa is actively marking the inclusive tram route «North-South». Recently, representatives from the project in Kyiv visited the city to familiarize themselves with the route plan. Following the inspection, an implementation plan was approved.

The «Barrier-Free Movement» project is part of the National Strategy for creating a barrier-free environment in Ukraine, which Odesa is actively engaged in.

The initiative for the inclusive tram route «North-South» was proposed by the Odesa City Council, approved by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, and fully aligns with the goals of the National Strategy.

Coordination of the project at the local level is managed by the Odesa Council for Barrier-Free Environment.
