Major Water Main Break in Odessa: Latest Updates

A major water main break occurred in Odessa, resulting in a substantial accumulation of water at the site.

Key Details

  • On June 12, a water main burst in Odessa, creating a small lake in the area.
  • Many neighborhoods are without water: Tairova, Cheremushki, and the Primorsky district.

  • Estimated timelines for restoring water supply have been announced.

According to a company representative, the situation is serious, with the break occurring in an area outside the urban development.

A large lake has formed at the site of the damage, which continues to grow. Repair crews and equipment are struggling to reach the break due to deep mud.

Currently, operations at several pumping stations have been suspended to empty the water supply system. Consequently, the Primorsky district is also without water.

As of 16:00, due to the break in the 1200 mm diameter pressure main, the following areas are without water supply:

  • Primorsky district, Odessa;

  • part of the Khadzhibeysky district (Cheremushki microdistrict);

When will water supply be restored?

Infoksvodokanal officials stated that the exact time for restoring water supply will be determined after excavation and assessment of the damage. The company promises to provide additional updates.
