Water Supply Restoration in Odessa: Completion of Emergency Works

In Odessa, emergency restoration works on the main water pipeline are nearing completion, following a break that left residents in three out of four city districts without water. Water supply is expected to be restored today.

Key points:

  • Restoration work on the water pipeline is almost finished.
  • The accident was particularly challenging — it occurred in a marshy area, necessitating filling and draining the site.
  • As of 5 PM, municipal workers are preparing to start the pumps for testing.

Water is returning to Odessa.

This was reported by Deputy Mayor Anna Pozdnyakova.

According to her, the damage occurred in a difficult location — right in the middle of a field, in a swamp. To access the site, a temporary road made of sand and concrete slabs had to be laid, along with excavation and continuous work.

“The team is handling the situation heroically. They are now preparing to start the pumps and gradually increase the pressure in the network. This is a complex but controlled process,” Pozdnyakova assured.
