Inclusive Wushu Training in Odesa

This past weekend, Odesa hosted an open wushu training session on an inclusive beach. The event took place outdoors, barefoot on the sand, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for all participants.

Veterans of the war joined in to explore a new sport, finding both challenge and joy in movement. The training showcased various styles of wushu, including both contact and non-contact techniques, dynamic exercises, and health-oriented practices. Everyone had the opportunity to test their skills and discover harmony in motion.

This event exemplifies how inclusive spaces can foster interaction and integration among individuals with diverse backgrounds.

The masterclass was conducted by:
Contact Wushu (self-defense):

  • Volodymyr Shevchenko — Master of Sports, European and multiple Ukrainian champion;
  • Oleksandr Berezhnyi — Honored Coach of Ukraine, senior coach of wushu;
  • Serhii Muntyanu — war veteran, wushu coach.

Non-contact Wushu (health direction):

  • Valeriya Blahodyr — Master of Sports, health program trainer.
