New Inclusive Beach Opens in Odessa: A Space for Everyone
A new inclusive beach has opened in Odessa, ensuring accessibility for all, including veterans and people with disabilities.
A concluding meeting of the Accessibility Council was held in Odesa, chaired by the city mayor.
The event brought together veterans, representatives from NGOs, experts, and city department heads, along with ambassadors of the "Barrier-Free Movement" project.
During the meeting, key initiatives implemented in the first half of 2025 were presented. These include ensuring access to beaches, creating a barrier-free route in Odesa, and promoting adaptive sports like rowing.
“We are not just removing barriers — we are building a new culture of urban life. Over the past six months, we've implemented concrete solutions, from beach access to involving people with disabilities in management processes. Most importantly, we have the trust of the community, which gives us the strength to continue our work,” stated Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
The work plan for the second half of 2025 was also approved.
“As we announce our plans for the upcoming months, we are clear: everything we plan is achievable. Behind each item is a dedicated team, timelines, and accountability,” added Deputy Chair of the Accessibility Council Oleksiy Morozov.
The meeting concluded with a summary: Odesa continues to confidently pursue the systematic expansion of accessibility in infrastructure, services, and culture.
“At the recently opened inclusive beach at the 11th station of the Great Fountain, over 100 individuals with diverse needs relax daily. This is proof that our city is becoming comfortable for everyone, and we will continue to develop all areas,” emphasized Acting Deputy Mayor Serhiy Kotsyuba.
