Honoring Distinguished Citizens on City Day
On City Day in Odessa, awards were presented to distinguished individuals for their contributions to community development and support during wartime.
On August 24, Odessa's main street — Deribasivska – hosted a concert in celebration of Ukraine's Independence Day.
The festive program featured traditional Ukrainian folk songs, modern hits, English-language compositions, and even rock tunes.
This musical blend symbolizes Ukraine's openness to the world and its dialogue with other cultures, while also showcasing pride in its own traditions. True independence means the ability to cherish one's own heritage while freely interacting with the global community.
The concert included performances by the Black Sea Orchestra from the Odesa Municipal Music Theater, conducted by Olesya Pistova; soloists: Anastasiya Buynitska, Yuliya Borza, Tetiana Ihnatenko, Aliya Digulyar.
Additionally, the festive program featured the Odesa City Center for Choreographic Arts (led by Yukhym Kogan), the Concert Orchestra of the Military Academy (Odessa, conducted by Yaroslav Meda; soloists: Anna Haluzinska, Oleksandr Nesterенко, Oleksiy Havrylyak), and Nana Kritsak Band.
