Bremen Mayor's Visit to Odesa: New Opportunities for Cooperation
Mayor Andreas Bovenstuhle of Bremen visited Odesa to highlight the importance of collaboration between cities and to review the outcomes of their support.
On September 2, Odessa began its City Day celebrations with a flag-raising ceremony and military banners symbolizing the fight of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for freedom.
Mayor Gennady Trukhanov emphasized that this year we celebrate without fireworks, but with deep gratitude towards the defenders who ensure our peace. Odessa has become a symbol of resilience, dignity, and mutual support. We honor the memory of fallen heroes and thank those who defend our land.
At the Stock Square, flags of cities that have endured occupation, such as Mariupol and Bakhmut, were also displayed.
“Odessa is not just architecture and the sea. It is the people who remain humane under pressure, who help their neighbors, defend the country, save children, and support the military. Odessa will continue to live and will become even stronger,” said Trukhanov while greeting the citizens.
