Water Supply Alternatives in Odesa
Overview of the water supply situation in Odesa and alternative water sources during the power outage.
A modern water supply facility has been completed in the Peresyp district of Odesa, located at Heroes of Defense Street, 60v.
This is the second source of quality drinking water in this densely populated area. Plans are underway to build two more facilities - on Academician Sakharov Street and in the area of Vladislav Buvalkin Street.
The new complex includes a technical building, staff rooms, a pumping station, ventilation and air conditioning systems, fire alarm systems, and a diesel generator to ensure uninterrupted service during power outages.
“This is not just a technical structure — it is a guarantee of safety and care for people. We realized how important it is to have backup water sources when the country faced disruptions due to enemy attacks. We now have another modern, reliable water supply facility that meets all requirements,” emphasized Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
The complex is equipped with an artesian well over 115 meters deep, providing 3–4 cubic meters of water per hour. The water undergoes a complete purification cycle: aeration, mechanical filtration, reverse osmosis, ozonation, and treatment through carbon filters.
This process ensures that the water meets hygiene standards for drinking, confirmed by laboratory tests from the Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Transport Medicine under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Currently, there are 17 water supply facilities in various districts of Odesa.
