New Agreement Between Ukraine and Switzerland on Reconstruction

Ukraine and Switzerland have formalized a new agreement concerning cooperation in the field of reconstruction. This document was signed by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Federal Council of Switzerland.

The Ministry of Economy reports this development.

The Swiss government considers the reconstruction of Ukraine a strategic priority and is planning to allocate 5 billion francs (approximately 4.8 billion euros) by the year 2036.

The agreement stipulates that Switzerland will provide non-repayable financial and technical assistance for the acquisition of goods and services from Swiss companies for reconstruction projects in the following sectors:

  • Energy;
  • Transport and mobility;
  • Manufacturing machinery;
  • Construction;
  • Water supply;

Additionally, it includes measures for emergency prevention and response.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the agreement features a transparent project selection mechanism through public procurement under Swiss law, exclusively involving Swiss companies. Special attention is given to:

  • The impact on the reconstruction process in Ukraine;
  • The contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goals and a "green" transition;
  • Job creation in Ukraine;
  • Professional training for Ukrainian specialists.
