Enhancing Medical Service Accessibility in Odesa

In order to improve the effectiveness of preventive measures, disease detection, and timely treatment, the Department of Health of the Odesa City Council has launched free preventive campaigns in medical institutions across Odesa, following the City Target Program "Health" for 2024-2026.

In 2024, at the initiative of the Department, 29 health awareness events titled "Health Days" were organized for both adults and children in Odesa.

The main goal of these events is to enhance public awareness regarding health risks, ensure early detection of diseases, and motivate the population towards a healthy lifestyle.

During these campaigns, city doctors conducted free preventive check-ups, including ophthalmological, dental, dermatological, ENT examinations, gynecological check-ups with cytological tests, urological assessments, mammological examinations, ECGs, ultrasounds, and fluorographies; they also measured blood pressure, determined blood glucose levels, and calculated body mass index.

Throughout the current year, a total of 40,911 individuals have undergone preventive examinations in Odesa's medical institutions, comprising 37,384 adults and 3,527 children. Cancer screenings involved 13,378 people, including 3,903 men and 9,475 women.

All patients with health issues have been referred to specialized professionals. Timely diagnosis is a crucial factor for successful treatment.

Moreover, this year, Odesa's medical institutions actively engaged in raising awareness about mental health, including prevention and treatment of mental disorders. As part of the all-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?”, initiated by the First Lady Olena Zelenska, a Month of Mental Health Awareness was held, providing psychological support to about 1,000 residents of Odesa.
