Tragic Loss in Odessa's Educational Sector

Due to a Russian attack, the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi in Odessa faced severe losses: two deputy directors and a cafeteria worker from a local high school were killed, as the establishment was destroyed by the occupiers.

This was reported by the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa Regional State Administration.

“As a result of the shelling of Lyceum No. 1, three dedicated employees lost their lives – wonderful, sincere, hardworking individuals who brought light of knowledge, care, and love to their students every day,” the regional administration said.

Among the deceased was 51-year-old Aurika Melnyk, the deputy director of educational work, who dedicated 30 years to the field of education. She left behind children and a husband.

Aurika's colleagues noted her resilience, strength of spirit, cheerfulness, and optimism throughout her life.

Additionally, the strike claimed the life of 77-year-old Oleg Gerasymenko, the deputy director for economic affairs. He had previously participated in the cleanup efforts following the Chernobyl disaster and had been working in education for the last 27 years.

Moreover, the Russian strike took the life of 60-year-old cafeteria worker Vera Roschina. Her colleagues wrote that she would be remembered as a model of sincerity, activity, and cheerfulness.
