Odessa Hosts National Rowing Championship
The National Rowing Championship took place in Odessa, featuring veterans and children with developmental disabilities.
On September 2, a commemorative star was unveiled on the Alley of Stars in Odessa to honor Gennady Vasilyevich Harmider, a prominent Odessa graphic artist who left a significant impact on the art world.
This event is part of the celebrations for the artist's 80th anniversary, which will take place in 2025.
“Every name on this Alley represents a piece of Odessa. These are individuals who have shaped the city into what it is today. On this City Day, we continue to tell Odessa's story through the achievements of its creators,” emphasized the Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov.
Gennady Harmider worked in oil painting and etching, creating urban landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and illustrating over 200 books. His famous graphic series such as “Odessa in the Early 19th Century,” “Odessa and the French,” and “Theater and the City” have become iconic representations of the city.
This year, numerous events were held in Odessa to commemorate Gennady Harmider: the exhibition “Multifaceted Gennady Harmider” at the Museum of Western and Eastern Art, the presentation of a monograph album at the National Scientific Library, and thematic exhibitions at the Literary Museum and the O.V. Bleschunov Museum of Personal Collections.
