Fraudulent Car Sales: Man Deceives Buyers

A man was selling «VAZ» cars online, which he did not actually possess. He asked for money to cover fuel costs for delivering the vehicles to the buyers. As a result of his actions, he could face imprisonment.

This was reported by law enforcement authorities.

Investigators discovered that a 30-year-old resident of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, who previously served over seven years in prison for robbery and unauthorized vehicle possession, was posting ads for selling «VAZ» cars on social media. From September to October last year, three men from Odesa, Vinnytsia, and Kherson responded to his offers. He promised each buyer that he would personally deliver the car if they sent him money for fuel. After receiving the funds, he blocked their phone numbers and deleted previous messages while posting new ones.

In total, he caused victims losses amounting to 24,600 hryvnias.

During a sanctioned search at his residence, investigators seized his mobile phones and bank cards as material evidence confirming his illegal activities.

According to Pavlo Bobchynskyi, the head of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District Police Department, after gathering sufficient evidence, investigators charged the perpetrator with fraud involving deceitful acquisition of someone else's property, specifically repeated fraud. Under part 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he faces a sentence of up to three years in prison.
