Police Uncover Murder in Odesa Linked to Theft Accusation

In Odesa, police have apprehended a man involved in the murder of his friend. The assailant brutally killed his acquaintance, suspecting him of stealing a wallet, using a bottle, fists, and feet.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police.

Recently, a woman discovered a bloodied body near a residential building on Heroes of Krut Street and called the police. Investigators and a mobile DNA laboratory were dispatched to the scene. Within half an hour, law enforcement identified a 37-year-old man with a criminal past as the suspect.

"Police determined that the night before, the suspect and his 43-year-old acquaintance had been drinking alcohol in a courtyard between buildings. During the drunken gathering, the younger man could not find his wallet and began accusing the older man of theft. In the ensuing conflict, he beat him to death with a glass bottle, using his fists and feet.

The body of the deceased was sent for forensic examination to establish the cause of death, while the suspect was located nearby and detained. Authorities recovered a wallet that the suspect had overlooked in his pocket, along with bloodied clothing and other items relevant to the investigation," the statement read.

Investigators have charged the detained individual with intentional murder. This crime carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison. The court has ordered pre-trial detention.
