Fraudster at Market: Over 48 Thousand UAH in Damages

Investigators have completed a pre-trial investigation concerning a woman who caused victims losses exceeding 48,000 UAH. The indictment has been forwarded to the court, and the offender faces imprisonment.

The perpetrator operated at a market in the Peresyp district, pretending to be an expert in gadget repairs. She offered her services to the public. Five trusting citizens handed over their phones and tablets for protective glass installation, as well as a robot vacuum that required charger repairs. Promising quick returns, the 'craftswoman' disappeared.

As a result, she inflicted damages totaling more than 48,000 UAH.

Not receiving their property back, the victims contacted the police. Measures taken by staff from Police Station No. 2 of the Odesa District Police Department No. 1 led to the identification and search for the perpetrator, a 36-year-old local resident. She managed to sell the vacuum and two phones, but law enforcement located all devices and returned them to their owners.

Investigators gathered sufficient evidence to charge her under parts 1 and 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – for taking someone else's property by deception, specifically committed repeatedly. The indictment has been sent to court. The offender faces up to three years in prison.

The investigation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office of Odesa.

Police urge citizens to be more cautious and to use services only from verified specialists and official service centers.
