Gas Explosion in Odesa: Casualties and Response

This afternoon, in Odesa, on Marselska Street, a significant gas explosion occurred in a kitchen, causing a fire in an apartment on the first floor of a nine-story building.

Rescue services promptly responded to the incident, extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading to neighboring apartments.

Unfortunately, the apartment owner, born in 1981, suffered 35% burns and was urgently hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the burn center. Additionally, an employee of a nearby salon, born in 1987, sustained minor cuts from shattered glass due to the explosion.

Psychologists from the State Emergency Service were on-site, providing psychological support to local residents affected by the incident.

A total of 9 units of equipment and 33 firefighters were involved in the firefighting efforts.
