A fraudster tricked people into making prepayments for services, then vanished without a trace. Investigators have already charged the suspect. He faces imprisonment.

The police found that a man registered as a sole proprietor posted advertisements for the production and installation of PVC windows without any intention of fulfilling them. After receiving requests, the «specialist» visited clients, assessed the work volume, drafted contracts, and took prepayments. Over time, he continued to communicate with the victims over the phone, assuring them that everything was proceeding as planned before disappearing.

As a result of his actions, three residents of Odessa incurred losses exceeding 18,000 Hryvnias. 

When they did not receive what was promised and realized they were dealing with a fraudster, the victims contacted the police. 

During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement identified and located the offender. He admitted to spending the stolen money on personal needs.

«We have gathered sufficient evidence to charge him under parts 1 and 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for acquiring someone else's property by deception, meaning fraud committed repeatedly. The perpetrator faces up to three years in prison. The investigation continues under the procedural guidance of the Malinovsky District Prosecutor's Office of Odessa,» stated senior investigator Ksenia Ustyushcheva.
