Justice for the Victim: Murder in the Reniy Community

The perpetrator will await the court's verdict in custody. He faces up to 15 years of imprisonment.

In October last year, during a conflict near a bar in the Reniy community, a 32-year-old man stabbed a 40-year-old local resident in the chest. The victim was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive. A forensic examination concluded that the cause of death was heart damage.

Law enforcement declared the offender wanted and, through investigative measures, located his whereabouts. He was apprehended with the assistance of the special forces unit "KORD" in an abandoned building on the outskirts of a village.

In an attempt to evade responsibility, the suspect threatened to detonate a grenade he was holding when he spotted the police. After about two hours of negotiations, law enforcement persuaded him to hand over the explosive device.

The police seized a hand grenade and a Makarov pistol with nine rounds from the suspect. According to the expert findings, the seized items are firearms and ammunition suitable for use.

The suspect refused to provide any explanation regarding his criminal actions.

As reported by Viktor Gerasymenko, the head of the Izmail district police department, investigators have charged the man with intentional homicide and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition without the required legal permit. Under the sanctions of part 1 of article 115 and part 1 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the accused faces up to 15 years in prison.

At the request of the police, the court has chosen a detention measure for the offender.

The pre-trial investigation is completed, and the indictment has been sent to court. The Izmail District Prosecutor's Office will support the prosecution in court.
