Corruption Scandal in College Admissions

A scandal erupted at a college when an instructor promised a prospective student that he would influence admissions officers for a fee. He could face up to five years in prison for his actions.

Officers from the National Police's Strategic Investigations Department, along with detectives from the local police, apprehended the suspect who initially demanded $1,500 but later reduced his request to $1,000.

The man was caught in his office just after receiving the money, which was seized as evidence.

"Investigators have already notified him of the charges. He could face up to five years in prison," said Iryna Yablonska, deputy head of the investigative department.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for abuse of influence. The prosecutorial oversight is conducted by the Chornomorsk District Prosecutor's Office.
