Arrest of Official in Odesa Region for Bribery

In the Odesa region, law enforcement agencies have apprehended a representative of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City Council for bribery.
She promised to provide «services» for forging documents to obtain a pension for 400 euros. Investigators have already informed her of the charges. She could face up to 10 years in prison.

The Security Service and police discovered that the head of one department, upon learning that a local resident lacked 10 years of work experience, offered to forge documents that would allow him to receive pension benefits. For this «service», she demanded 400 euros.

Law enforcement documented her actions and arrested her while receiving the second part of the bribe amounting to 10,200 hryvnias. The money was seized as evidence.

After gathering sufficient evidence, the police charged the official with receiving an unlawful benefit through the misuse of her official position, linked to extorting bribes.

Under Ukrainian law, this crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years with a prohibition from holding certain positions.

The court set a preventive measure of detention with the right to post bail of 120,000 hryvnias and suspended her from her position.

The investigation is ongoing, with the prosecution being handled by the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district prosecutor's office.
